With its recent renovations and staff additions, DOMINIQUE SALON continues and builds on the elegant tradition of New York’s finest exclusive salons.
Located within The Pierre Hotel (Fifth Avenue & 61st Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenue) it is one of a few salons in Manhattan with a clientele that reads like a “who’s who” of the City’s finest … discerning leaders in their fields who seek out the best there is.
Many of today’s clients, like the celebrities of yesteryear, enjoy the discreet “clubby” atmosphere of this discreet shop tucked quietly away in the hotel’s lower level. Dominique’s clients, many of whom are well known and often covered by the media, appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and privacy that the location affords them.
The hair salon at The Pierre Hotel has a long, illustrious history of service to New York’s “movers and shakers” going back to the 1930’s. Dominique de Anfrasio continues the long tradition of elegance and service with his salon.
Dominique de Anfrasio’s clients have included such media legends as RooneArledge (ABC), Roger Ailes (Fox News), Tom Sullivan (Fox Business News) Mel Karmazin (Sirius XM), Frank Gifford (ABC Sports), Jeff Greenfield (ABC/CNN/CBS), and such notables from other fields as celebrity photographer Francesco Scavullo, the Hon. Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia, and culinary stars likeJean-George Vongerichten, Daniel Boulud and Alain Ducasse.
Famous or not, however, everyone who visits Dominique Salon enjoys the experience in the context of the original Art Deco design and atmosphere, combined with modern WiFi access and privacy. Adding to the distinctive ambiance, are individual TVs in each private grooming chamber, with their stylish selection of black-and-white films from the 1930’s & 40’s, and a selection of vintage wines and gourmet treats for hungry clients on the run.A second-generation hair stylist, Dominique de Anfrasio came to the U.S. as a young child with his parents.
Originally from Dijon, France, Mr. de Anfrasio returned to his native country to attend the Coiffure International de Dijon and then apprenticed at several hair styling salons before returning to the United States.
Here, he worked for several hair salons before joining the staff of the Gio Salon at the Hotel Pierre. A rising star at Gio, Dominique’s clients included Lee Iacocca, George Steinbrenner and Nathaniel de Rothschild. Shortly after Gio’s death, Dominique took over the salon at The Pierre in 1991 and now continues the long tradition of the hotel’s hair salon for the elites of New York City.
